چکیده

In this article, we propose an improved estimator for finite population variance based on stratified sampling by using the auxiliary variable as well rank of variable. Expressions bias and mean square error estimators are derived up to first order approximation. Four real data sets used measure performances estimators. Moreover, a simulation study is also conducted observe efficiency proposed estimator. The theoretical numerical results show that under random more efficient compared existing

Improved estimation of population variance using information on auxiliary attribute in simple random sampling

Singh and Kumar (2011) suggested estimators for calculating population variance using auxiliary attributes. This paper proposes a family of estimators based on an adaptation of the estimators presented by Kadilar and Cingi (2004) and Singh et al. (2007), and introduces a new family of estimators using auxiliary attributes. The expressions of the mean square errors (MSEs) of the adapted and prop...

A Ratio-cum-Dual to Ratio Estimator of Population Variance Using Qualitative Auxiliary Information Under Simple Random Sampling

In this paper we have proposed a class of ratio-cum-dual to ratio estimators for estimating population variance of the variable under study, using known values of some population parameters of auxiliary variable, which is available in the form of an attribute. The expressions for the bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimators have been derived upto the first order of approximation. ...

Estimation of Variance of Normal Distribution using Ranked Set Sampling

Introduction     In some biological, environmental or ecological studies, there are situations in which obtaining exact measurements of sample units are much harder than ranking them in a set of small size without referring to their precise values. In these situations, ranked set sampling (RSS), proposed by McIntyre (1952), can be regarded as an alternative to the usual simple random sampling ...

Dual to Ratio cum Product Estimators of Finite Population Mean Using Auxiliary Attribute(s) in Stratified Random Sampling

The problem of estimating the population mean in un-stratified sampling strategies to estimate the finite the presence of an auxiliary variable has been widely discussed in finite population sampling literature [1], suggested a class of estimators of the population mean using one auxiliary variable in the stratified random sampling and examined the MSE of the estimators up to the kth order of a...

Improved Exponential Estimator in Stratified Random Sampling

In this article we have considered the problem of estimating the population mean   Y in the stratified random sampling using the information of an auxiliary variable x which is correlated with y and suggested improved exponential ratio estimators in the stratified random sampling. The mean square error (MSE) equations for the proposed estimators have been derived and it is shown that the prop...
